RICAS - 2026

Students will be taking the RICAS (Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System) ELA test on March 30th and March 31st, 2026 and the Math test on May 4th and May 5th, 2026.

All students in grades 3 through 8 will take RICAS Mathematics and English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA) tests for their grade level. The goal of RICAS is to assess students' understanding of the concepts, skills, and content in the Common Core State Standards for ELA and Mathematics. The RICAS tests will be held in-person at school.

We use the data from the RICAS tests in three ways: to help measure academic achievement, to provide important feedback on our classroom instruction, and to identify areas where students may need some extra support.

The most important thing that you can do for your child during testing is make sure that they come to school on time. In addition to attendance, please make sure your child:

  • Gets a good night's sleep so they are well-rested on the day of the test;

  • Has breakfast on the morning of the test; and

  • Feels encouraged giving their very best effort.

The information we gain from RICAS helps us provide a better education for your child and for all of our students. Thank you for helping us make this a positive experience. We appreciate your support.
